After An Accident
It is terrible to be injured in an accident. But it is worse to be injured and left uncompensated for damages arising out of an accident. Have an experienced attorney help you. Let others use the long answer.
Adequate Liability Limits
At least $100,000.00 per person and $300,000.00 per accident in liability bodily injury limits, and with $50,000.00 in property liability limit - this coverage is for your driver's negligence - if you are an injured passenger, you will be glad you have these limits.
Medical Payments Coverage
Medical payments coverage of at least $5,000.00 is great. It is valid for treatment costs incurred up to 3 years after an accident for policies within the state of WV. An exclusion to this is that Allstate and Nationwide insurance companies pay only for treatment in the first year after the accident unless unusually high limits are agreed.
Underinsured Coverage vs. Uninsured Coverage
Underinsured motor vehicle coverage is needed in same limits as your liability limits. This coverage pays when the other driver has some insurance but not enough to cover your losses. This coverage is not to be confused with uninsured motor vehicle coverage which is for unknown drivers who hit and run and for negligent drivers who have no liability insurance at all. Uninsured motor vehicle coverage is required on all policies.
Note: Remember "Before an accident contact your insurance agent. After an accident call Larry Rowe!"
